An immigration judge has ruled that the president of Wisconsin's largest mosque, Salah Sarsour, can be deported. The ruling allows for the use of a controversial, cold-war era law that the Trump administration has previously attempted to apply to foreign nationals advocating for Palestinian rights.
Sarsour, a permanent resident in the U.S. for nearly 30 years, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in March. He was later released by a federal judge who found his detention potentially retaliatory due to his advocacy for Palestinian rights.
