Jets Trade Star Goalie Connor Hellebuyck to New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils have acquired three-time Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck from the Winnipeg Jets, ending a long-standing trade request from the star goaltender. The blockbuster deal sees the Devils send forward Dawson Mercer, goalie Nico Daws, prospect Alexander Command, forward Nick Bjugstad, a 2029 second-round pick, and a 2027 seventh-round pick to Winnipeg.

Hellebuyck, an Olympic gold medalist, had expressed his desire to be moved from Winnipeg after 11 years with the team. His arrival in New Jersey bolsters a Devils roster that has shown early promise, including a recent 4-1 victory over the Ducks and a strong start from their AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets.
