Antonelli Becomes Youngest F1 Champion; Hamilton Takes Pole in Mexico

Kimi Antonelli has officially become the youngest Formula 1 World Champion in history, clinching the title at the Mexican Grand Prix. The 20-year-old Mercedes driver secured his maiden championship with a ninth-place finish, a result that was sufficient to hold off teammate George Russell and cement his place in the sport's record books.

Antonelli's triumph comes after a season where he defied expectations and silenced critics who questioned his promotion to Formula 1. Despite a challenging rookie season in 2025, where he faced calls for his replacement, Antonelli demonstrated remarkable resilience and skill throughout 2026, securing nine victories en route to the championship.

Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton claimed pole position for the Mexican Grand Prix in his Ferrari, adding another significant achievement to his illustrious career. The weekend, however, was ultimately defined by Antonelli's historic coronation, marking a new era in Formula 1.
