Rwanda Secures 10-Year Deal to Host Formula 1 African Grand Prix

Formula 1 has officially announced a historic return to the African continent, with Rwanda set to host the African Grand Prix for ten years starting in the early 2030s. This landmark agreement marks the first time F1 will race in Africa since 1993, fulfilling a long-held ambition for the sport and its drivers.

The new Grand Prix will be held at a purpose-built circuit in Bugesera, located south of the capital, Kigali. The decision to award the race to Rwanda has been hailed as a significant moment, particularly as other nations like South Africa and Morocco had previously vied for the opportunity. The deal is expected to bring substantial economic and sporting attention to the East African nation.
