Jon Ossoff has won re-election to the U.S. Senate in Georgia, defeating Republican challenger Mike Collins. The victory for the Democratic senator, who has been touted as a potential presidential contender, was projected by major networks shortly after polls closed.
Ossoff's campaign focused on a referendum against the Trump administration's actions, which helped elevate the race into a national talking point. His win is part of a broader picture of the midterm elections, with other key races unfolding across the country. Democrats have also seen Roy Cooper win in North Carolina, flipping a Senate seat, while Republican Ashley Moody has retained her seat in Florida.
