The remains of medieval Bulgarian ruler Tsar Samuel have returned to Bulgaria following a protracted dispute with neighboring Greece. Discovered in a Greek border region sixty years ago, the relics are set to be received with full state honors in Sofia.
The handover ceremony includes a military aircraft escort, a 21-gun salute, and a procession to the Church of St. Sophia, where the public will have the opportunity to pay their respects. The Greek Prime Minister has expressed hope that this repatriation will bolster Bulgaria's efforts to persuade Britain to return the Parthenon Marbles.
