Social media platform Bluesky has begun blocking links to a massive data leak that exposed the personal information of over 40,000 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees. The move comes as government agencies are reportedly seeking takedowns of the leaked data, which includes sensitive details about individuals working for agencies like Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The leak, attributed to a group named "Department of Peace" and published by Distributed Denial of Secrets, has made names, job titles, phone numbers, email addresses, and office locations of DHS staff publicly accessible. Concerns are heightened by the inclusion of details about employees involved in sensitive operations such as wiretap programs, Palantir software, and xAI's Grok chatbot, as well as the locations of ICE and CBP facilities. This marks the third major government data disclosure in the past month, following earlier reports of a hacker publishing similar information online.
