Save the Children Faces Regulatory Warning Over Staff Safety Failures in Yemen

The international aid organization Save the Children has received an official regulatory warning from the Charity Commission for England and Wales. This action follows a two-year investigation into management failures and misconduct that placed staff at its Yemen office at serious risk.

The investigation was prompted by the death of Hisham al-Hakimi, the office's safety and security director, in October 2023. Mr. al-Hakimi was detained by Yemeni authorities, and the Charity Commission's warning concludes that the organization's oversight and operational practices were insufficient to protect its personnel.
