A coordinated cyberattack has again targeted supermarket refrigeration systems across Europe, with dozens of stores affected by malfunctioning freezers and fridges. The attacks, which involve remote manipulation of temperature controls to dangerously high levels, have led to significant food spoilage and raised concerns about the vulnerability of critical supply chains.
This latest incident follows a similar wave of disruptions that impacted stores in Belgium, Sweden, and Luxembourg. In Sweden, one major supermarket chain reported that six of its stores experienced severe temperature increases in their freezers, with some reaching up to 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit). The European Union has condemned the attacks as a deliberate attempt to disrupt the food supply chain and erode consumer confidence.
