Cyberattacks Escalate: French Blood Plasma Freezers Targeted, Temperatures Soar to 110°C

The escalating cyberattack campaign targeting critical refrigeration systems has now impacted French blood plasma freezers, with hackers reportedly raising temperatures from -30°C to a staggering 110°C. This latest incident follows a wave of similar attacks across Europe that have disrupted supermarket operations and led to significant food spoilage.

Over the past few days, numerous supermarket chains in at least seven European countries, including Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, Estonia, Ireland, Finland, and Italy, have reported their refrigeration units overheating. Hackers are believed to be remotely manipulating temperature settings, causing food to spoil and forcing retailers to discard large quantities of products. The attacks have raised serious concerns about the vulnerability of food supply chains and critical infrastructure to cyber threats.

While the full extent of the damage and the perpetrators remain under investigation, cybersecurity experts and government agencies, including the UK's National Cyber Security Centre and the U.S. military, are actively involved in assessing the situation and bolstering defenses against these coordinated cyber offensives.
