The jury in the trial of comedian Russell Brand has begun deliberations to decide on a verdict for seven charges, including rape, sexual assault, and attempted indecent assault. The conclusion of the trial follows three weeks of evidence presented to the court.
During the closing arguments, Brand's defense team argued that the comedian is not "some kind of psychopath who rapes people and thinks it's normal," asserting that he believed all sexual encounters were consensual. The defense also contended that a 2023 Channel 4 documentary about Brand "poisoned the well of justice deliberately" and "fundamentally corrupted" the accusers. Brand has pleaded not guilty to all charges, which span a decade from 1999.
